CITIZENS INCOME
This is the provision of a basic non-conditional modest income that all citizens would be entitled to and would replace the vast and complex, means tested and conditional benefits system. For more information visit : http://www.citizensincome.org This is a rather academic operation but the IDEA itself needs to be more widely spread and promoted. If you think it is a good one, tell others, even your MP.

Co-housing
I suspect that many people here (well, at least me) think it would be a neat idea to live in a property with a number of houses and outbuildings over quite a few hectares. This would allow plenty of space for workshops, festivities, pigs, vegetables, celebrations, wood, and so on. Note that the ambition is not to found a commune or a cult or somesuch. Rather to amass an easy going group who would like to live independently, but in a small community - thereby allowing us to all engage in more of the things we'd like to, such as making cider, smoking bacon, growing vegetables, reading in a hammock, having a swim, going for a bike ride over the hills, or perhaps a ski in the nearby resort. There are plenty of properties which match this description. But finding the group to get involved is harder. I'd suggest founding a discussion page, or perhaps a wiki, with surveys and what not where people could reach concensus, coalesce, gather and share information, and progress plans. Having read How to be Free, I've actually bought howtobefree.co.uk, and spoken with Tom about this possibility, but before I go ahead and do this I thought I'd 'moot' (sorry John) this idea to see how much support there'd be. ed@onlinepersonalassistant.com www.onlinepersonalassistant.com

YouTube video(s)
The idea was mooted some time ago that we might produce an IF YouTube video. I like the idea, but I don't have the hardware to do it. I reckon we could story board something simple using stick figures (it works for Spielberg!) and perhaps sidle up to the idea and see if it takes shape or not. Even though I love the notion of a YouTube video, I have bitter memories of 'group work' at university producing a video. Ours might feature hammocks, tea drinking and the like. Whaddaya think? Maybe we could list what we would need for such an undertaking, and perhaps Bootsie's 'slave for a day' thread could tie in with this (no pun intended). We could film people 'doing stuff' and incorporate it. PS - I promise never to use the annoying word 'mooted' again. - John

Strawberry Fair
I would like to book a stall at the Strawberry Fair in Cambridge. It's a free one-day festival in early June with good music etc, and 'alternative' ideas are very much welcomed. We should be in the Green Area (http://strawberry-fair.org.uk/green.php) where there will be people like anarchists, hunt sabs and No2ID to keep us company.Anyone up for establishing an 'Idling Corner' on the lines of Harpo's idea there, with cups of tea and flyers on offer?

Harpo's idea
Lifted from the forum: "I just had an idea. You know those street questionnaire sort of people who say "can you spare a couple of minutes?" - we could do the same thing, and then when people say yes they can indeed spare a couple of minutes, we unfold a couple of folding chairs, invite them to sit, maybe offer them a drink if it's a hot day, compliment them on their shoes/hair, and generally spend two minutes with them doing basically nothing, and then off they go, having had an Idling experience."This could work either on the street or from a stall at a festival or something.
